July has arrived....hot & wet

The census called and scheduled me for a class... then canceled all classes (C19 is on the rise again) until after August 1st. Step by step. The same setback occurred when scheduling my fingerprinting but that did eventually happen. There is hope. Midi is home and is a changed dog (most of the time). He and our newest family member have been in the same room ONCE. Harley was not impressed and expressed just that and Midi did the prudent thing and left the room immediately. Midi likes cats and our 3 have always had dogs. Harley has NEVER had a dog and is not sure what to make of Midi. Sigh. I worked a total of 12 days at the full-time job in June. Only scheduled for 12 this month as I am taking 1 Saturday off for BACA's 100 Mile Ride. I am liking this schedule so much better. Even with the current part-time gig a few hours a week I have lots of "me time" left to have coffee with friends, date nights, reading time. Relaxing is an art form I am trying to spend more time pra...

Well, time got away....

It seems my last blog post was May 13th. How does time go by so fast??? I did not do an "end of the month" check-in. I guess my Birthday was more important, LOL. And I got to travel home finally and visit family & friends :-) Way more important than a blog post. Just to stay on track though, I am going to post for May and June (since this month is over halfway done already and B U S Y). Monthly goals are: #1) Follow my budget in order to pay off ALL debt by this year's end. Moving along ... Big Blue and I are trying to stay on top of things and update the plans for repayment. #2) Create one piece of art each month... an 8x8 canvas, a journal or booklet, a mixed media piece, just something artistic. This did NOT happen this month... just the art for swaps I am in. Like I said above... been busy! #3) Participate in my art group's "Birthday Club" where we send a handmade card & ATC to those celebrating birthdays. Done and mailed thru=ough June. #4) 202...

Day 59 in LA while MS says "Ease Up"

After a nearly month-long shutdown, Coastal Mississippi's economy is opening back up. On May 11th, so did Louisiana. Los Angeles, on the other hand (who is on Day 59 today), was given another 3 months on lockdown. Bear in mind Mississippi is still seeing its new case numbers rise each day. And I still see idiots at the petri dish formerly known as Walmart without masks, not distancing, etc. UGH. While social distancing requirements are still in effect, restaurants can start serving dine-in customers again and many retailers are allowed to reopen. Salons, barbershops and gyms can resume operations as well. Businesses must screen all employees for signs of sickness. Employees who cannot socially distance at work must wear face coverings. Customers of all retail shops must wear face coverings. Masks must be worn at all outdoor public events, such as flea markets and live auctions. I can travel to Texas now. I will go in June but it will be a brief and distanced visit for one day o...

and so it continues...

... nothing sensible is really happening as far as COVID-19 goes. Mississippi is not opening barbers (who see limited # of clients and wear masks) but they are opening dine-in restaurants (where people are eating without masks AND in larger #s). And following that line of "logic" they are also keeping other types of sensible, precautionary businesses closed but allowing casinos to open. You can open the mall back up but not the mom & pop places that so desperately NEED to be open, both for their financial security and their neighborhood communities? I AM SO CONFUSED. This is not about OUR health, or even C19. This is about who pays more money into the system. And the larger corporations generate more sales tax revenue. In order to SEEM like they are trying to "Protect" the population and are concerned about the welfare of the tax-paying citizens, they have to put up a front and so the little guys get crushed. Why do I feel like I am being lied to and screwed ove...

Safer at home? Well, that depends....

Last night was a bit of a long one. A fire that started Wednesday and was extinguished Thursday reignited and got a bit out of control, coming within 2 miles of our house. We were sitting in the back yard yesterday afternoon with ashes falling on us. Kinda worrisome, I admit. The smoke was so bad that we shut all the windows... worried it would impact the fur-babies smaller lungs. We decided to start our sprinklers watering "just in case" so we set 2 in the back yard (towards fire site) and 1 in the front. They ran until almost 10pm then we shut them off, changed the batteries in our smoke detectors, and called it a night. Today dawns much better...the air has lost that acrid eye-watering component and I can sip my coffee on the back patio in comfort. Because of Covid-19, I missed my grandson's 1st Birthday. I will also miss my Dad's 80th birthday this weekend. They are both in Texas. We did get to Zoom CCJ so that was a nice touch. Don't know if I will be able ...

Day 8 of "Stay at Home"...

...and Day 29 of COVID19 in Mississippi. Coronavirus was not even a thing when I last posted. Sheesh... For me, all that really means is that I can’t go wandering about and craft shop on my days off (I’m “Essential”, sigh) and we can't dine out when I get home from work. My part-time job is closed for now and my Census job is on hold because of COVID19. She is able to go out for groceries and things during the days. We still walk the dog, either in our neighborhood or on the beach “boardwalk” (it is concrete, but whatever) every evening. There is a curfew in place until 5am but I have yet to be stopped on my way into work for 4am. The number of new cases is larger every day here but there is some hope that the rise will slow after this week for some reason? I have avoided the media crush about the whole thing by working in my clinic and, on my days off, crafting in my room or enjoying our yard, patio, pets and such. She is doing yard work, garage cleaning, making masks for other...

wow, where did time go?

I did not do my monthly update for February. Why? Well, busy lol. So, lemme catch that up right now... Monthly goals are: #1) Follow my budget in order to pay off ALL debt by this year's end. Moving along but this is difficult. Big Blue (planner) is now holding ALL budget & bill pay items. Done and mailed #4) 2020's weekly scrapbook layout challenge over at the Scraptacular Cropping Club. I have completed 1 through 11 as of today! #5) the Monthly lottery challenge in my ATC Art Group on IO Groups. The March card is made and ready. So, got back from Tupelo and hit the month running. Got to see Jeanne Robertso...
