new beginnings...

Image
this morning's song lyric was "every new beginning comes form some other beginning's end." Third Eye Blind? So, today is the Winter Solstice, which I celebrate. Yule, as it is also known. And it is today. The Return of the Light. Yesterday was the longest night/shortest day. Today, the days now get longer, hence 'returning light'. And with that return, there are some other things I would like to return to my daily routine. Journaling, blogging, exercise & penpals. I have not been very regular about ANY of those 4 lately... certainly not since the Summer Solstice. Seems that, as the light began to wane, so did I. NO MORE! This is a really bad pic of a very nice card. Simple yet elegeant. Shaving cream background (will be teaching that during my Feb 6-7th corkshop) with heartfelt sentiment on an embossed card base.

and so ends the weekend

Okay, so I may be a non-conformist... but I had NO turkey on THE DAY. Yeah, well... I look at it like this... I try to be thankful all year long. And, as a witch, we have three Harvest Festivals. Lammas is the first and is when we share the first fruits of our labors with the Goddess and those around us. The 2nd is Fall Equinox, when we share our abundance, even knowing that the final harvest is close at hand. And that leads us to Samhain, when we began preparations for the coming season of winter and inward time. So I am consciously thankful August 1st (or thereabouts) all the way through October 31st. The rest of the year, I try to work gratitide into my life as well. Not too shure, really, why a turkey is required, to be honest. Rebel grilled steak, Spirit made fresh green beans and mashed sweet potatoes (withOUT pineapple or sugar or pecans, mind you). Oh, and as Spirit's birthday was that day...we had spice cake! So, you may wonder, how DID we spend the BIG DAY? Well, I cook...

happy tuesday... bath night...cereal night...

I know, I know... 19 days later... sorry! Did I mention I have been up to my ears in work? And by work, I mean work work (that 8-5 kind) as well as home work. Actually, work work is where I go to rest, nap for lunch, get stuff done. The home work is HARD. Get up, walk the dogs, feed the dogs... shower... scoop cat litter, feed & water cats... back to the kitchen to cook breakfast... oh, lizards want breakfast too? And the dogs? No, wait.. they ate already...right? Then check the snakes' water bowls, grab the dogs & put them in the pen (watch those steps in the rain... gonna relabel the top one ASS and the one under that BUSTER. At least the landing was soft.. in the MUD. Sigh. Then take out the trash, load the car... oops...back inside for my (forgotten) lunchbox & coffee. .. then the 45 minute commute. 5pm comes, I drive home, do it all over again! Oh, and I also spent 2 nights making sure the guest dogs (3) were unable to leave our warm & hospitable yard. Sigh. ...

Blessings abound

Well, Spirit's 1st full day at home... and take it easy? Never! Spent 2 hours vacumming, then spent night in pain .. .. .. .. D'UH! Today I left a list of chores to get done, all from a SEATED position. Got home last night to find a friend had brought over a pushmower (yes, lawn was pretty overgrown, seems someone noticed). I guess not to be outdone, Don came over from next door on his riding mower & they made quick work of front yard. While they were doing that, Don's son (Jeff) and I weilded weedwhackers for front beds & culvert areas. Passed out some plates of lasagna to all, all glasses of water. Then away everyone went, as suddenly as they appeared. I looked around, counted days back to last GOOD rain and decided I had better water. Silly me. If I would watch the weather channel once in a while, I would see we were slated for rain... which did actually show up around 3am. How do I know the time? See 3rd sentence...sigh. But was very restful, listening to t...

Pattern?

Well, last posted on a Friday....seeing a pattern there? Friday is "Loose Ends Day" around here, and then I can catch up on other stuff. :=) This weeks PS class was on OBEs, astral projection, things of that nature. Interesting...Spirit is also taking class & is a bit more advanced in that area. I had no luck in class with it, am working more out of class with the techniques. I KNOW I can do it, it is the conscious control that I suck at. Patience is required, it seems...not my forte! Great Summer Solstice ritual last night... the altar was just LUSH & GORGEOUS. I even took pics, but will have to stay tuned as it was late & they are still on camera card. Every night this week has been go go go go. Between Sunday's trip to the IMAX for "Mummies:Secrets of the Pharaohs" to the sabbat planning meeting, psychic skills class, esbat planning meeting, the actual Sabbat...argh!! And, to add to the pile, I signed up for a class by Sage Maurer @ the Gaia ...
