What I’m Practicing in 2026 Instead of Hustling

I’m not replacing hustle with another aesthetic version of productivity. I’m not optimizing my rest or monetizing my healing. What I’m doing in 2026 is practicing—slowly, imperfectly—ways of living that don’t require me to be in constant pursuit mode. Here’s what that looks like right now. I’m practicing pace. Letting things take the time they take. Leaving margin. Choosing “not yet” more often than “push through.” I’m practicing embodied yeses and noes. Listening to my body before my calendar. Noticing where tension appears when I agree to something—and honoring that information. I’m practicing enoughness. Stopping at “good and sufficient” instead of polishing myself into exhaustion. Letting “done” be a form of care. I’m practicing work that doesn’t hurt me. Not pain-free, not perfect—but work that doesn’t demand constant self-betrayal as the price of admission. I’m practicing creativity as nourishment. Writing, journaling, making, and mending without asking whether i...

October looms!

I love this time of year.... the football games at the school have started back up, people are grilling and burning firewood, the mornings are crisper, the AC is off and the windows are OPEN!! And October is when we take our "big trip". It is an even year, so we will be headed east.  The Fall Equinox is this week... another turn of the Wheel. September is also the start of the school year for the Women's Thealogical Institute , which I rejoined. I was an active member while living in Texas, but the move to coastal MS saw me shift many things while acclimating to a lower wage and a slower pace. Beach bum and all that. However, I am mostly a solitary practitioner. And, even with my continued observance of the Wheel of the Year, I felt like I was lacking in like-minded connection. So I rejoined. When we return home I will have my hand surgery and be out of work until December. I have been working (wearing a brace) since its latest malfunction in May, but it sucks. It hurts. ...

It has just dawned on me...

I never posted this year's goals. I wrote them in my journal, went through the practice of selecting, etc. Never blogged about them. Got on here today to do my check-in only to find I never came back after the lightning strike fiasco. So I did, in fact, narrow down my choices to just 3 this year. As I was going through my selection process it dawned on Me that 3 of my five were indeed very closely related. So I lumped them into what I am calling IPP or Intention Pagan Practice. Then I also have my health goal "Lose 1# each month" and my Blog Monthly/Journal" goal that keeps me on track.  The end is near.. of January, at least. How have I done? Well, the Deep Time is coming to a close and I have been pretty much on target with that. This is my 2nd (and last) blog post for January, so that is good. I have no idea about my weight as I will weigh in tomorrow and compare. Keep your fingers cro My current term ends the 2nd of February and my LAST TERM (!!!) starts Februar...

59% of 2021 is gone

Wow, over half of 2021 is already gone?!? Tomorrow is my last day in Term 6. Term 7 kicks off on August 11, and this one actually has real (rather than electronic) books!! My hope is that this proves to be easier when we go on our annual trip . Speaking of trips, the kids could not make it last weekend (illness) but Sheila is scheduled for this weekend. Gulf Shores, here we come!  For my Dean's list & 4.0GPA in the last 2 terms, I bought myself an HP Sprocket. I chose the 2x3" size so it is compatible with my planners. My goal is to do most of my memory keeping for our  Grand Circle Trip  on the go. Normally I take pictures for the whole trip, return home and upload those 1000 or so photos, then wait for Snapfish's "penny print sale" to order them. Then there is another 2-week wait to get the photos back so I can scrapbook them. Oh, and try to remember where each one was taken, and when.  The Sprocket is micro USB rechargeable and uses Bluetooth. What it doe...

Spring has Sprung

Oh, how gorgeous are our spring days? Very!  Filled with with singing birds, nasty gnats, fresh blooms, sweeping clouds. Even the occasional cold front coming through (like tonight) can't knock the bloom off of the beauty that is Coastal MS this time of year.  Let me check-in and get that out of the way: ) Blog the 1st of each month:  .a day early since tomorrow is a long-ass work day but here I am! "ON TARGET" 2) Maintain an intentional spiritual practice:  March started with a Pisces New Moon, a week later was the Spring Equinox (Ostara), and then a week after that was a Libra Full Moon. Three weekends of ritual in a row...WOW!  I set out my year-long "Desires" grid under the Libra full moon energies. And I made 7 journal entries. "ON TARGET"            3) Lose one pound each month:  I actually gained 0.9#. Ugh. Looking back on March, I see a week of eating out (nachos) was probably not my best idea.  This is finals...
