Rain Rain GO AWAY...

Image
... at least for tomorrow...my day off? So far, this week, we've seen not quite a FULL rain gauge (that is 10" my friends). We've had to erect an umbrella over the raised bed gardens because the tomatoes were throwing out life rafts to the strawberries. What a sight that was to see. And the squirrels are taking up residence in the oak tree and fishing their nuts (yes, I said it) out of the passing river underneath. The hummingbirds have given up on the feeders (rain is beating them off) and are roosting on the fence under the eaves (which is driving the cats absolutely NUTS). The mice have taken up umbrellas and moved (in formation, no less) into the shed out back (stray cats have taken over the garage). It's suddenly interesting to be the higher ground around our neighborhood. And, on my way home tonight, 28th street has been closed. Knew that was coming because water was already over the road when I passed @ 4am ...we've had another 13 hours of rain since then......

happy tuesday... bath night...cereal night...

I know, I know... 19 days later... sorry! Did I mention I have been up to my ears in work? And by work, I mean work work (that 8-5 kind) as well as home work. Actually, work work is where I go to rest, nap for lunch, get stuff done. The home work is HARD. Get up, walk the dogs, feed the dogs... shower... scoop cat litter, feed & water cats... back to the kitchen to cook breakfast... oh, lizards want breakfast too? And the dogs? No, wait.. they ate already...right? Then check the snakes' water bowls, grab the dogs & put them in the pen (watch those steps in the rain... gonna relabel the top one ASS and the one under that BUSTER. At least the landing was soft.. in the MUD. Sigh. Then take out the trash, load the car... oops...back inside for my (forgotten) lunchbox & coffee. .. then the 45 minute commute. 5pm comes, I drive home, do it all over again! Oh, and I also spent 2 nights making sure the guest dogs (3) were unable to leave our warm & hospitable yard. Sigh. ...

Blessings abound

Well, Spirit's 1st full day at home... and take it easy? Never! Spent 2 hours vacumming, then spent night in pain .. .. .. .. D'UH! Today I left a list of chores to get done, all from a SEATED position. Got home last night to find a friend had brought over a pushmower (yes, lawn was pretty overgrown, seems someone noticed). I guess not to be outdone, Don came over from next door on his riding mower & they made quick work of front yard. While they were doing that, Don's son (Jeff) and I weilded weedwhackers for front beds & culvert areas. Passed out some plates of lasagna to all, all glasses of water. Then away everyone went, as suddenly as they appeared. I looked around, counted days back to last GOOD rain and decided I had better water. Silly me. If I would watch the weather channel once in a while, I would see we were slated for rain... which did actually show up around 3am. How do I know the time? See 3rd sentence...sigh. But was very restful, listening to t...

yawn...

Well, we continue... spent all of Friday crisscrossing Austin, 1st in N Austin to hospital where they administered cortisone shot & pain med via injection. Then home for a nap. Then headed to S Austin for a 2 hour session with a lovely woman who was quite informative and helpful . While she was not actually able to do anything at the moment, we learned a lot from her and will try implementing some of that knowledge today. Just not right now. After a really long night with very brief naps, Spirit has had bath in epsom this morning, another Motrin & is back in bed, nauseous from pain. Sigh. As yet unwilling/unable to do any of the exercises learned yesterday but now in possession of a walker, Spirit is able to get to bathroom or couch of choice. It has been raining off and on since 3am. Yes, I was awake when it started. sigh again. Walked dogs under umbrella around 6:30am, they think I am whacked. Tara came in, ran right to breakfast bowl. Bud came in, ran and jumped into his re...

Highlowaha's post was made by Ray today, about our New Year's resolution and not getting up off our butts to do them yet... not true! I went to see doc earlier in the year and we are trying some things to see what can be done about my weight. I cannot come off my anti-seizure medication but I also cannot lose any weight if my heart rate is too depressed to climb over 90 while I sweat my ass off. Between the seizures & thyroid, my body is ...
