Eyeballing the end of May

Bad news first: on Mother’s Day, we discovered we had termites. UGH. Both of us are working OT right now so I guess that was a good thing, as the pest people quoted about $1000. The good news is that we saw our grandson for his 3rd birthday when we went to the Texas Goddess Springfest mid-May in Dripping Springs. A few days before we left she finally got a little time to get the oven pulled out of our old camper. The day before we left she cut and installed the new countertop. She has SKILLS!! Although leaving it until the last minute was a tad stressful.                 At SpringFest, I came across a gal using an Instant Pot. I had been looking at them but was not sure they were worth the money. She gave me a run-through, showed me what it could do, and I loved it. She also provided me some tips on getting a used one, which I did upon our return… a 3qt for $15. Finally got to use it this week and I gotta...

It has just dawned on me...

I never posted this year's goals. I wrote them in my journal, went through the practice of selecting, etc. Never blogged about them. Got on here today to do my check-in only to find I never came back after the lightning strike fiasco. So I did, in fact, narrow down my choices to just 3 this year. As I was going through my selection process it dawned on Me that 3 of my five were indeed very closely related. So I lumped them into what I am calling IPP or Intention Pagan Practice. Then I also have my health goal "Lose 1# each month" and my Blog Monthly/Journal" goal that keeps me on track.  The end is near.. of January, at least. How have I done? Well, the Deep Time is coming to a close and I have been pretty much on target with that. This is my 2nd (and last) blog post for January, so that is good. I have no idea about my weight as I will weigh in tomorrow and compare. Keep your fingers cro My current term ends the 2nd of February and my LAST TERM (!!!) starts Februar...

Should I be worried

Less than 2 weeks into the new year, we got his by lightning. Hit the garage and not the house. We actually saw it strike, which was awesome! Then we discovered that we lost the back outlet in the garage, the control for the hot tub is fried (is powered through the garage), all the fairy lights in the yard popped off of newly frazzled and fried wires. 2 of the surge protectors melted, but saved their appliances. It is currently cold on the coast, which I am not a fan of. 3 weeks left in this term and then I have to really get my ass in gear.      2 021 did not turn out the way I wanted. Covid did not go away, masks are now a fashion accessory, and nothing is looking to change as far as I can tell.      I started college in August 2020 to get an AAS degree when we determined working remotely was going to be more desirable than killing myself on a clinic floor during a pandemic. A pandemic that seems to have no sight in end at this...

59% of 2021 is gone

Wow, over half of 2021 is already gone?!? Tomorrow is my last day in Term 6. Term 7 kicks off on August 11, and this one actually has real (rather than electronic) books!! My hope is that this proves to be easier when we go on our annual trip . Speaking of trips, the kids could not make it last weekend (illness) but Sheila is scheduled for this weekend. Gulf Shores, here we come!  For my Dean's list & 4.0GPA in the last 2 terms, I bought myself an HP Sprocket. I chose the 2x3" size so it is compatible with my planners. My goal is to do most of my memory keeping for our  Grand Circle Trip  on the go. Normally I take pictures for the whole trip, return home and upload those 1000 or so photos, then wait for Snapfish's "penny print sale" to order them. Then there is another 2-week wait to get the photos back so I can scrapbook them. Oh, and try to remember where each one was taken, and when.  The Sprocket is micro USB rechargeable and uses Bluetooth. What it doe...

You probably can NOT see...

Image
... what I am chasing in this photo... and if you can, you probably cannot identify it. However, it is one half of a pair of ospreys who were hunting on the Mississippi Sound near the railroad bridge in Bay St Louis. It was raining, and later on I got a picture of the rainbow that appeared...but the osprey were my intended subjects. They were fishing, and having fairly good luck. However, as my camera has seen better days, I am now taking all my pictures with my phone...and it lacks zoom to any great degree. ARGH. Yes, I know it has been a month since I last posted.. but in that month I have been BUSY because I went back to school. Yes, almost 23 years after graduating a college, I went back. Nothing much is happening on my current job front and due to inter-store politics I have not gotten the promotion I was promised (nor the money that goes along with it). So I have decided I need more education. After enrolling, work tells me that another position might POSSIBLY be opening but no...
