OMG DAD QUIT SMOKING!!!!!

I just noticed that I have not posted on here in like a coon's age.. so sorry!! been busy teaching at Michael's, working at DaVita and living the beach life. callie died in August, almost a year to the day of Mr. Buoy's passing. Sad. We are looking at end of life care for Cappi as she is way into the geriatric doggie stage now. Did make it back to Texas in July & then again early October to see the kids, my dad & some BHS friends. Also did some touristy type things like Horseback riding, walking the river, etc. Bud did not get to go because I took the BF instead. he can go in March. :-) Oh..get this.. DAD QUIT SMOKING!!!!! Wait.. THAT should be the headline.. lemme go change that up top.... ... ... Ok... Title of blog post has been changed. That is like an awesome thing, y'all...So, working on teaching some classes outside of Michael's since they have changed how they pay me. They are now deducting a "Room Fee" from my "Classroom Bo...

July... already half of a quickly passing year

So, made the trip back home...we left way before daybreak last week. We hit Jennings park for a quick dip & roll...saw the baby gator (Bud didn't even bark...). Then back in the car & over the Baton Rouge bridge. Ever upward and onward until we finally see it...the Texas State line!! That meant we were halfway there! Made it to 5 Mile Dam and took a trip down memory lane...that was where Bud learned to swim with his Daddy as a mere pup. Speaking of his Dad, we made it to the kid's place in time for dinner and an early bed. Saturday saw us head out at the crack of dawn to Bandera. Along the way I was going to stop for breakfast at the biggest (and newest) Buc-ee's in New Braunfels. That's when I saw it... BRAND NEW HEB+ ...right across from the Beaver!! Ah, my loyalties were torn :-( But HEB+ won. The grand opening was the day before but there were still LOTS of specials. Loaded up the car & ice chest as much as possible (the overflow got to ride with B...

Now off to see the Wizard....

Or, in my case...Dad, who is a wizard in the kitchen, so that counts. Have loaded up the car with shrimp, San Marzano tomatoes (look them up if you want to know why), Old school shredded wheat biscuits, cat food & cat litter...the basics. On the way back I hope to bring lots of Dad's tasty experiments in culinary design as well as some HEB & Spec's items for the household. :-) Some pics from my birthday camping escapade? Why, sure!!

It is almost here!!!

My BIRTHDAY !!! And I got a new camera ... only bc the other died last weekend while on Deer Island . It arrived yesterday so it is headed out with me for our Memorial Day/Birthday Camping Trip to Gulf Shores today. So excited...packed the essentials and away we go! When I get back i will have to deliver some SU! orders, write some letters to my penpals (before they think their letters to me got lost) and get ready for work but I will be in such a better frame of mind once I have sat for the weekend on a beach with some adult refreshments and good friends. just sayin'... Thanks to all for the well wishes, the alcohol (!!) and the cards. I am truly blessed :-)

spent Monday shopping & cooking

Image
I miss the Long Beach Rouses, damnit!! Monday I went & got ingredients for a weeks worth of healthy meals, enough to make 2 dinners & 2 leftover lunches. Breakfast is almost always a couple of eggs in some form with guacamole or bacon or some such... no need to shop for that. But I did pick up pesto, feta, black olives, pork chops, chicken, beef, etc. Monday's dinner was a fantastic Pesto chicken casserole and made enough so there were leftovers for lunch today. Tonight's dinner (and tomorrow's lunch) was Pork Chops Marinated in Pesto served with broccoli and cauliflower in cheese and small salad. Wednesday I am off so will cook for 2 days again (Weds & Thurs)... the menu (as of now) is Weds: Pizza night !! Pizza will be wheat free... wow...using eggs and cheese for crust then topping with sun dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes from the garden, black olives, mozzarella & provolone with some leftover chicken shredded across the top. . And a little oregano and...

Almost 2 months gone..WOW :-(

So I last posted on here February 23rd ...where has the time gone?? OMG!?! Between work (full-time, part-time & self employed), volunteering, Easter, travel to see family AND vacation I have not really stopped. I have been doing my art journal on a regular basis up until 2 weeks ago (need to catch up on that THIS weekend, I promise myself!). And I have been scrapbooking all the events...am even caught up except for our April vacation trip. The Healthy lifestyle challenge is still challenging and at times I am despairing of EVER getting to where I need to be. It turns out that I HATE to exercise. I am good with walking, goodness knows I do enough of that while I am at work!  And I like to walk socially. But I hate doing strengthening exercises. Those weight lifting, core targeting, stretching things. Maybe should take up watching TV and put a gym in living room so I would be more inclined? Who knows. And being in the beginning throes of menopause is NOT helping, lemme just say. ...
