Been really really busy @ work but this week I only work 4 days and today I am OFF!!! the weather may not cooperate but I am headed for the beach, regardless. High tide is @ 11:26am today & if the sun will come out there is a good chance of spotting the stingrays. I am running out of time since they will be leaving on their annual migratory mating trip...usually late August, early September. Contrary to what people tell me (upon learning that is what I am looking for whilst standing in the water) stingrays do not attack people. However, if it is stepped on the stingray will utilize its spine as a form of defense. Although being pierced by the stingray’s spine is painful, it is rarely life threatening to humans. So, packing my cooler and grabbing my sunscreeen!

Help is on its way

So, woke @ 3:07am on my day off.... went back to sleep. Awoke again @ 7:34am to find the Little River Band playing in my head. Since work is trying to run me into the ground I would LIKE to think this is prophetic and our ROD will finally see that having the unit be short staffed is a BAD THING and will let the FA hire at least one person to replace the 2 we lost in May. There are 2 main perks to working where I do. One is the fact that we are only SUPPOSED to be working 3 days per week, every other day (MWF or TTS). You work like a dog those three days but you get 4 days off which is plenty of time to do laundry, hold art classes, have lunch with friends, sit and read on the beach, etc. Working 5 or 6 like some of are is frekin' ridiculous! arghhhhh The other is PTO (Paid time off) which is accrued as a percentage of hours worked. I am accruing roughly a day of PTO every week. Right now the pisser is that you can only accrue up to 120 hours. Then it stops. Unless you use it,...

too damn short staffed at work

the title is also my reason for not posting in a month.. .geez!! I am working in a field where the average worrk week is SUPPOSED to be 3 days... try FIVE. and when those days are anywhere from 11-15 hours, you dont really wnat to work them all in a row... not even back to back. Yet, that is what we are currently having to do. We are short 2 technicians... one transferred to a unit closer to home, the other moved out of state when spouse was transferred due to job. ARGH. so, rather than complain, I will share with you a response to one of my art groups where the question was posed "HOw do you store your paper?" And, if you know me (why else are you reading this?) then you know that I have a somewhat serious paper addiction. No, I do not want help with it or a 12 step program. I am well aware of my addiction to paper and I embrace it! LOL Here you go:: I am a tad OCD in my paper habit... argh. I store 12x12s in the IRIS scrapper containers on wheels...there are 6 clos...

let me be myself

This morning's song was by Avenged Sevenfold, "Warmness on the Soul" . Follow link to video with lyrics. You'll know why. Managed to work 40 hours in my three days this week. Today it's still raining and I have to go get the essentials... cat litter & cat food. Also going to see if I can rustle up a dehumidifier. Yes, you read that right. I have a humidifier for the winter months but my envelopes are all self-sealing at this point. They are not meant to be, but they are in this humidity. Sigh. Laureli scoped one out yesterday so will go take a look-see today while she is with clients. Sadly, another patient died yesterday morning (at home, in his bed) :-( He was my first patient as an extern that I did the entire treatment, from cannulation to removal. We even had our picture taken together after the successful treatment. Sad day. On the bright side, went to get a wellness screening as part of Davita's Village Vitality (requirement for lower healt...

Damn Yankees... and I mean the group, not those people north of us... :-) Here is the song in its entirety since I woke up @ 5:47am singing it..sigh.. where is my coffee???? And the shower? Yawn... "Comin' of Age" written by Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, Ted Nugent Dressed to kill and lookin’ dynomite, with her high-laced stockings and her sweater so tight. I asked her her name, she said her name was "Maybe." Well she walked up to me, and she asked me to chance I said, "I am lookin’ for some wild romance," She gave me a wink--she said I should think about it, maybe She said, "What you got babe, is what I need. Your kind of love got me on my knees." I’m so tied up What you got got a hold on me, your kind of love make a man outta me I’m so tied up, you got me so fired up Little sister, hits the stage She can’t help it, she’s comin’ of age Little junior, he’s all in a rage Did you notice she was comin’ of age If looks could kill,...

Last couple of days I have had some lower back pain...didnt really think anything about it until I woke up Tuesday morning and headed to work... bending and stretching hurt! Long story short, ended up @ Slidell Memorial Hospital to do urine culture (some blood and white blood cells) and was told I have a possible kidney infection. I love my job but the "no water while working the floor" rule has got to go. I am used to drinking fluid all day long. My patients are even drinking water, but the techs are not allowed. Sigh. So I am, for the first time in over a decade, taking an antibiotic. My TCM practitioner has also given me some things to take to aleviate pain and side effects of the antibiotic. Yippee. Now it is time to shower, stop off at post office then the health food store for some pure no sugar added cranberry juice then off to see Connie Pace for some creative time before heading to Good Karma Medley to drop off her fiscal accounting. This is what a day off looks l...
