Speaking of miracles.... woke up, walked the dog, 2 of the cats, still managed to eat breakfast, make lunches, stop by bank AND get to work on time! I love it when there are no school zones :-) So, Dan with Aanimal Wonders (pet place in San Marcos) came over last night to look @ Diana & Dionysis... says they are beautiful (I knew that!) and look healthy. I was concerned about their size, thinking maybe F2T or something :-( Got them December 2006 @ about 7 grams..now they are tipping the scale at right around 35-37...keep in mind I am speaking in GRAMS. Ah well. So ... the nation's holiday is tomorrow... what does that mean to me? A paid day off to water, weed, walk. A paid day off to invite friends over for a meal and conversation. A paid day off to create art. Saw this Green Frog (click on link above) in the water bucket by our back spigot.... looking for water... so gave him a flat metal pan (for automotive use, kinda large) and set it in the ground a bit, full of water. Also, at the back door, we've had a toad hanging out, knocking on the door looking for - you guessed it- water! Uhland is in a drought right now & scheduled watering cycle. Sigh. So, that one got a small pool under the back steps. Lo & behold, 10:30pm one night, as I am watering, I have (in the front yard) yet ANOTHER toad ... hopping up to ring the front doorbell. "Water?" I ask. Yup... so another flat inground pool went in under the front spigot. And, for good measure, I have a dishpan out back mixed in with the mint plants with some goodly sized rocks in it ... another pool, with basking spots (or emergency exits, depending on what might fall in). well... as Friday was the 13th, I refuse to work... such sacred hallowed days are meant to be CELEBRATED! So, took the entire day off!! Started off by watering for an hour... then feeding all the creatures... then getting dressed and heading off on the list of errands. 1st stop...fuel! 2nd Stop, Hobby Lobby for ritual & art supplies. 3rd stop was Tractor Supply for paint & a puppy-proof pool (ie: horse trough!) 4th stop was Scotland's so we could go (belated) birthday shopping ... oh the fun we had... purchased a radical tie-dye t-shirt, a sarong (comes with video on how/where to tie-GOOD THING!), then dinner and home to check on everyone and then take a nap. Can you imagine it... a nap on a Friday afternoon! Wheeee :-0 Then, spent 2 hours or so on sorting one of my way overloaded art drawers...it had amassed a bunch of "stuff" that 1) did not belong and 2) could not be easily located even if it WAS in the right drawer.... sigh... Well... winds yesterday lifted my grandpuppy's 6x6x10 shaded structure over his fence & out of his yard and deposited about 150 feet away, in a neighbor's yard!! We've had steady 20-25 MPH winds out of the SSE now for a coupla days. Another wind advisory is predicted for all of today before the rains hit on Friday. Our free night last night was spent tying the shaded structure down with stakes & aircraft cable this time as skinny rope was just not strong enough for sustained speed winds. SIGH. I looked at Spirit & said "Dorothy, you & Toto are still in Kansas." all of us laughed... it made perfect sense...even the dog seemed to be grinning!
