Autumn is here!

well..yes...I know the Autumn Equinox was actually a month ago... but today was the FIRST FROST on my windshield as I struggled off to work....and so we've turned off the AC monster & opened the house to the elements!! It is also day 4 of injured lower lumbar... and as sitting is not my friend (and driving evokes painful whimpers) I am now off to a horizontal position...sleep well!

Election Day Spell

This spell was sent by one of the authors (Rabbit) to another list and I was invited to repost. I hope you enjoy it! === Iris and I wrote an Election Day spell. We posted this to the Sacred Well blog, and also felt like it was a good idea to share it with some of our favorite witches. Please feel free to pass it on! Election Day Spell by Iris and Rabbit We aren't going to try to tell you what to choose on Election Day. We hope we don't need to :) Instead, we have written a spell that creates intention for the best possible outcome in all initiatives, and the highest possible good for this country, state, county, and city. You may want to use this spell with a seven-day candle, and start it on Tues the 28 th , the new moon. Or you may decide to do this spell with a three- or one-day candle, leading up to Election Day. We invite you to snag this and post it on your blog/list/chat group. And feel free to adapt and add your own magic as well. You will need: -a seven-...

It's never too late... it's never too late....

and the song of the day leads me to the demise of September... a few more days to go as it draws to a close... giving way to October! And oh, what a party that month will be. Every weekend is something going on, starting with our WTI Advising weekend, then on to the 16th annual Festival of the Goddess , then our final installment of "Wheel of the Year" (was a 2 year program) ...then Samhain ... wow! And the weeknight evenings are just as chock-full of fun times, too, between movie nights, workshops, get-togethers... I love this time of year! Lots to do, can't do it all.... but by golly I can try... Rat update... Vesta is on oral & otic antibiotics for what they suspect is an inner ear infection. Culture came back w/o much staph but still some, so we treat for that and hope it is nothing worse (like tumour). Hestia is glas her sister is back, even if she does smell like sterile vet place and weirdo drugs...

latest arrival

Image
here is the 5th baby.... the other 4 were found in the filed we have as a back yard.. this one was lounging in the toad pool at Rebel's door... until it was scared (big kid, bigger grandpuppy) and sought refuge UNDER THE HOUSE!!! So, toad pools have been removed, cats are being kept inside, and we are all using walking sticks until #5 and its siblings find their way across our acre and over to the lake behind the Vacant Green House... happy trails!

working for....what, exactly?

yesterday was just frustrating all the way around... so much to do and so little time left over after working in the "real world" ... so drove home, stopped for petrol, looked at my (negative) bank balance afterwards... depressed and tired of always playing "catch up", ya know? So went on home, only to get voicemail from Rebel about car needing a part that costs ALMOST as much as rent payment... so then I tried to meditate on CALMness for a bit... in the midst of bathing 4 dragons and having Abigale deciding I needed her to bathe me... so we went outside and sat in our (soon to be) patio area with some incense and Bud.... things will improve....

Glory Days

The last glories of summer...oh, wait, this is central Texas....it is summer all the way until Thanksgiving!! Well, Rebel was enjoying the last days until college started back up....

I am beyond appalled @ McCain's choice of Veep

Sarah Palin's record on environment is abysmal By RICK STEINER GUEST COLUMNIST (Rick Steiner is a professor at the University of Alaska) While I disagree with many of Sen. John McCain's policies, I was willing to concede that he may at least make a wise, rational president and represent a step in the right direction for the nation. No longer. With his pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, he has shown a spectacular, even dangerous lack of judgment. In addition to her frightening lack of qualification to be vice president (much less president) of the United States, Palin is an evangelical, anti-choice, pro-gun, right-wing conservative who wants creationism taught in schools. She is currently under investigation by the Alaska Legislature for alleged abuse of office. Many of us in Alaska simply cannot imagine Palin having anything to do with U.S. foreign policy, domestic policy, national defense or the countless other affairs of federal governance....
