when the children cry

Well, watched Milk last night. I was a tad disturbed that Dan White got off with only 5 years. How can junk food cause a "mental condition" that allows you to break into a building with a gun AND makes sure you kill ONLY 2 pre-selected people, not anyone else you encounter in the halls? A mental illness with selective memory? BS.

So, today's card is a bit more involved than the last few, but it was next in line and it is Saturday, so I have time to explain! Then off I go to make a card for a friend's housewarming!

Folded 8.5x11 sheet of DSP in half, trimmed that to 5x7. RS image on cream CS. Add medallion with glue dots to bottom left. Color with pencils, darker where there should be shadows. Glue to pice of oriental newspaper hten tear out around it unevenly. Glue that whole thing to the (now) 5x7 base. Stamp 2nd image on white CS, color, cut with deckle edge scissors, glue on top. Glitter glue of your choice where you wish. NOTE: to really make the dragonfly pop, stamp this image again on scrap paper, color the dragonfly ONLY and then cut out & mount over the stamped image with foam tape to give it a 3D appearance.

And no, I DON'T think it is the 4th of July. .. I'm quite sure it is March 12th, 2011. My brain is not at all fried. In fact, between the Prasada @ Good Karma Cafe , the Acupuncture & Massage with Laureli and the Yoga with Adam , I am probably in the best health I have ever been! Stormed here a bit this week.. a coupla tornadoes , even, but we are fine, and dry. Storage pop-up in back yard made it through just peachy, as well. Spent yesterday making some cards.. got a tad over a dozen done, to add to the rest I have finished earlier in the week. Will put those for sale @ Good Karma Tuesday, and maybe at the Essential Herb Cottage as well. Been trying to create create create so I can sell some at the local weekend farmer's market as well as those 2 other locations. Violet

the song was by Courtney Love's band Hole... Violet... I have not idea why it is called violet unless it is just one of the random words from the opening lyrics... oh well! So, update... I currently have 143 cards for sale @ the Bastrop Producers Market... I know because I had to sticker them with my Vendor number yesterday... 27 of those are NEW ADDITIONS that I made yesterday before going out. Lots of fun!! A quiet week is planned... just a board meeting in N Austin at a coffee shop...how could I NOT go?! And Janee Ward's "Stepping Through the Doorway" creativity workshop @ Pine Crone Labyrinth Retreat this Saturday & Sunday. I am expecting "The Toy" to arrive Wednesday so I am pretty sure what I will be doing all of Thursday & Friday evenings :-) Stay tuned.................
