Spring has Sprung

Oh, how gorgeous are our spring days? Very!  Filled with with singing birds, nasty gnats, fresh blooms, sweeping clouds. Even the occasional cold front coming through (like tonight) can't knock the bloom off of the beauty that is Coastal MS this time of year.  Let me check-in and get that out of the way: ) Blog the 1st of each month:  .a day early since tomorrow is a long-ass work day but here I am! "ON TARGET" 2) Maintain an intentional spiritual practice:  March started with a Pisces New Moon, a week later was the Spring Equinox (Ostara), and then a week after that was a Libra Full Moon. Three weekends of ritual in a row...WOW!  I set out my year-long "Desires" grid under the Libra full moon energies. And I made 7 journal entries. "ON TARGET"            3) Lose one pound each month:  I actually gained 0.9#. Ugh. Looking back on March, I see a week of eating out (nachos) was probably not my best idea.  This is finals...

Bird Song

Wow, March 1st already! I was up early this morning (as is my norm) and so I am listening to the birds as they awake. I have already taken care of all the financial minutiae that must occur on the 1st and 15th monthly. Coffee was been consumed throughout the process. All that is left before I go to my college classes is to check-in on my monthly goals for February and see what March has planned for my time.  1) Blog the 1st of each month: and look...here I am! "ON TARGET" 2) Maintain an intentional spiritual practice: I observed both the new and full moons with fire and friends. The new moon was on the patio because of the weather. The full moon had different friends and was held outdoors. Wrote five journal entries for the month. I set out my year-long "Desires" grid last night since still under the Virgo full moon energies. "ON TARGET"            3) Lose one pound each month: I actually lost just over 3! "ON TARGET" February started with Imb...

Post-January Check-in

Well, January has come and gone. Covid19 still here, mask mandates still in place, gas prices still rising. It is cold but I am going camping in a few days so that is okay. Severus is not thrilled with seeing more of Harley as he pops out of his room.  So, the goals for last month were:  1) Blog the 1st of each month: I admit today is the 2nd. But yesterday was a work day, and a long day. Blogging is like the moon, in that the energy is valid a day before and after. :-)  "ON TARGET" 2) Maintain an intentional spiritual practice: I observed both the new and full moons with a fire and friends. I am journaling at least weekly. I set a grid out for the lunar cycle. And i will be observing Imbolc this evening when home from work. "ON TARGET"            3) Lose one pound each month: I actually did! "ON TARGET" February will see me packing for our upcoming trip, taking down the altar for Imbolc and setting up one for Spring Equinox, planning i...

Hello 2021

Well, 2020 was an odd year, to say the least. And, as this is my first post of 2021, it will be my (typical) goals post. For a retrospective, I went back to 2020 (and 2019) to look at my previous goals.  My 2020 recap (and my comment on status will be after each):  #1) Follow my budget to pay off ALL debt by this year's end (I did not succeed in paying it all off, but I got close)  #2) Create one piece of art each month... an 8x8 canvas, a journal or booklet, a mixed media piece, just something artistic (nope, did not happen)  #3) Participate in my art group's "Birthday Club" where we send a handmade card and an ATC to those celebrating birthdays (done and done)  #4) 2020's weekly scrapbook layout challenge over at the Scraptacular Cropping Club (did great up until August, more on that later)  #5) the Monthly lottery challenge in my ATC Art Group on IO Groups (nope, did not happen)       As you know, 2020 had a few hu...

Life continues after Zeta...and so does the cleanup

So, I last posted on the morning of October 28th after we boarded up windows and got ready for what was predicted to be be a Cat 1, maybe Cat 2, hurricane named Zeta. The predictions were a little weak as he came through as a high Cat 2 with wind gusts of 123 MPH. Not sustained for 5 minutes, or he would have been a Cat 3. We did suffer some damage, but all in all came through a lot better than some. Power was out for the better portion of a week but we made do with solar (thank you Laureli!!) for the lights and electronics (because online college does not stop for power outtages) and a generator to keep fridge and deep freeze stable enough to not lose what we could not eat or share with others. Her end of the house (office) took a direct hit from the neighbor's tree, muted slightly their fence and the roof of my car. Garage roof was lifted but stayed mostly intact (thanks to the hurricane braces installed when it was built-hallelujah!). The front of the garage was pushed in about ...
Today I woke up, walked for an hour, boarded up my windows then sat with a cup of coffee. In checking my email, I saw this from my Dad this morning and thought I would share! As I pondered the rest of my day, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, something evil has invaded our nation, and our lives are never going to be the same. I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life--so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone. You can't justify this insanity. We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind! If a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him. Somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America. Russians influencing our elections are bad, but illegals voting in our elections are good. People who have n...

2 months later...OMG

So, where have I been these last 2 months of not posting? Well...right after my last post we headed to Paul B. Johnson State Park (Hattiesburg area) for our monthly camping getaway. It was just a weekend long, "Go Saturday after work and return Monday" trip but that made no difference in the level of relaxation it afforded us. We went mural spotting in HBurg this time. We find something neat to do no matter where we go. Then in August we headed to Big Lagoon State Park in Florida. Need to get that one in the scrapbook, hopefully before we go on the next one. This month we are heading out on another weekend trip to Percy Quinn with a possible detour to Clark Creek Natural Area. The Clark Creek Natural Area in southwestern Mississippi is one of the Magnolia State's most beautiful outdoor treasures. Comprising more than 700 acres, it is highlighted by some 50 waterfalls, ranging in size 10 to more than 30 feet in height. Creation and protection of this fabulous area came ...
